I was thinking about doing some sound dampening in my trunk before I got to far into it. But I wanted to know how much material it was going to take to do my trunk and the lid of the trunk? My trunk measures 35" x 58" and the lid measures 15" x 50". Now is 100ft2 enough to do atleast two layers or would I need more? I am not in a math mood to figure it out and I was hopeing someone could hepl me that has dealt with this before. Thanks.

double layering will take at least 150 Sq Ft for your whole trunk depending on what your car is. You can get away with using less though

Here is the math I did, someone please check if this is even possible:
Trunk Lid
50" x 15" = 4.16' x 1.25'
4.16' * 1.25' = 5.2 ft2
Trunk
35" x 58" = 2.92' x 4.83'
2.92' * 4.83 = 14.1036 ft2
Total
14.1036ft2 + 5.2ft2 = 33.4072ft2
That's 33.5 ft2 to do the whole trunk including lid and 67 ft2 to double it all. Is that right or am I way off?

you are wrong, the lid is correct, but the truck is wrong, the truck has sides, you have to add the sides in there also...depending on how tall the trunk is...

I'm not going to be doing the sides of the trunk because of how it is made in my car. I just wanted to do the floor and the lid so that it would sound a little cleaner and so that the lid of th trunk wouldn't rattle when it hits. But other then doing the sides it is right tho?

buy second skin damplifier, same as dynamat but much cheaper. If you are interested i know where you can get 50sq.ft. for $59.99. If you are only doing floor and trunk lid, you could get away with a 50 sq. ft. roll. 100 sq.ft. would be enough to do almost 3 layers. What i would do is buy 50 sq. ft. of second skin, and then go to homedepot and buy some Peal n' Seal for the floor. Its pretty much the same as dynamat as well and is only $13 for a 6" by 25' roll. Two of those is enough for the floor. Then you can use the second skin for the trunk lid and anywhere else you want, maybe the doors, or you can just go over top of the peal n seal again. I wouldnt put peal n seal on the lid though because it doesnt stick quite as well, on the floor it will be fine though. It smells for a day or two but then it goes away.
