Someone wanna help a brutha out, I want to see what my wheels would look like on my truck if they were powdercoated:

fully black,
black with a polished lip,
and black with a red lip,

If you are feeling real froggy you can paint my truck also, its going to be painted black with red from the body line down.

Damn, the all black that Jeremy did looks sick!! I'd like to see that with the polished lip now too. The black that Joey did kinda looks like the rims usually look....dirty. :D

adam, when you say "red from the body line down", from where does it start? the body line right below the top or the the bottom line down?

lillitnn92

polished lip

That looks sweet, but the polished piece would actually be the whole outer rim, so that just the 5 spokes are black.
And he want's the color to split at the top body line, curving up from the front of the front wheelwell, like the older King Ranch Edition F-whatever50s.

ok, i've always seen polished lip as the outer lip ony polished, but i can fix that. about that color, not sure what you mean.

I guess kinda like this, even though it's the Harley Edition, only instead of the orange (red in his case) sloping to the headlight, it slopes down to the front of the wheelwell.

hmmmm. i don't know if that's going to work. with that one, the bumper is starting the color and going back. he does plan on keeping the chrome right?

Well Jeremy, I'm trying to embarass you by posting my awesome 1 minute MS Paint rendition of how he wants it, but Lightbox7 isn't cooperating with me at the moment. Basically, picture the red starting at a point at the top rear corner of the chrome on the bumper, then curving up to the top body line and following it all the way back.

ah, okay. i'll give it a whirl. black is hard to change to red and plus the darkness of the photo doesn't help any. i'll try though.

this looked a lot different in PS. some reason it's darker than what i saw.

oh yeah, was this what you meant?

whoa...thats an awful lot just to powdercoat, you could almost buy new rims for that. isnt there a how-to out there for doing it yourself?

buy the do it yourself powerdercoat kit

http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=460&itemType=CATEGORY

if you get this one I'll pay you to do my bumpers

http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=404&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=459&iSubCat=460&iProductID=404

This kit isn't too bad.

http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=250&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=459&iSubCat=460&iProductID=250

all this stuff is from Eastwood

You can use the smaller kit as long as you can fit em in an oven. But I think your wheels are too big.

Some things you just shouldnt do yourself, I wouldnt even try and paint my truck myself, much less try and powdercoat something as expensive as my wheels. Im sure that powdercoat kit is to powdercoating, what spray paint is to professional paint, shiite

just practice on somebody elses rims.....like joey's....help out his focus rims...even if you have to waste a lil experimenting it would be cheaper than the other option....haha
but i see what you are saying...if i had nice rims like that...i wouldnt touch em either

$745 is a bit much to powdercoat 4 rims. Theres a place that does powdercoating in Frederick Md that did the HREs on my friends Lingenfelter Vette and i think he payed around $500. Either way i heard that no matter who puts it on will start to show wear in no time on wheels and suspension parts.
