I have a 78 Z28 (first car)....doesn't run, but body in great shape...I've had the car 12 years since I was 16 in HS....I have mad plans for the car, but really no time or money since it all goes to my soloma right now....would you keep it to eventually restore (probably 10 years away) or should I just let it go (tons of memories, alot of sentimental value)....my wife and mother-in-law say toss it, but its my baby! Thoughts?

if you dont need/have to sell it then try to find a firned who could store it for a couple years.........maybe in a barn or ina shop , but def. inside, somewhere where moisture cannot get to the car

Sometimes you just have to let go. Weird year for the car too. Not that valuable, so holding onto it for any longer in hopes of the value going up sin't worth it. Then again if you conceived you first born in it, keep the damn thing.

its garaged, but sometimes I wish it wasn't in the way....yeah, 78 not a popular year, but its a Z28, in great shape and I worked wendys for over two years to pay for that car....lol

Sell it, it's just a Camaro, I don't think the value will rise much on it.

Everything carries some kind of sentimental value, but sentimental value has no money value. I had sentimental value in my '86 Dodge Colt, and had to pay a junk yard $25 to get rid of it. If everybody kept cars because of their sentimental value, Jack, would you be driving that Pro Street truck of yours?

I say keep it. If you sell your first car you may regret it latter, but it is up to you in the long run. As far as memories I am sure you have plenty of photo's of your baby. It is a Camaro and to somebody it is worth the world. So what if it takes you a few years to do what you want to it. My family made me get rid of my first Camaro (81 no a/c no radio no power anything and it was brown-yuck) I wish I still had her to do what I had planed. I regret getting rid of my first Camaro and wish my family had not made me do so, eventho she was a plain jane Camaro to me she was priceless. If you do get rid of it at least take some photo's.

I had an 87 Ford ranger that wasn't worth a penny and it was falling apart. I wish now that I would have kept it. i need a car that can take a beating without costing a small fortune to fix.

Also, it was my first car...I miss it. if you are having to think about getting rid of it this much than you probably shouldn't. Something is holding on to it and it maybe the best thing you could do. Who cares what the $ value is or could be, obvioulsy it has value to YOU!

Id say just keep it. The year of the car is kinda strange, i have one from the same generation. However finding those cars in good condition is pretty hard so if yours is nice dont get rid of it. I had a 1969 Firebird with a 406 small block as my first car and i regret selling it every day.

Lol with all of this rice hitting the streets, the sound of good old american muscle is getting less and less every day.

As it's a smog motored EPA abused and way over-mass-produced car, sentimental value is all it is worth unfortunately. If you put 10,000 bucks in it it might be worth 2500, lol. They can be made to look and run good, but it's not an investment you should hope to make any money on in the future either. Bottom line is it's up to you and how easily you can get ahold of any money from the spouse.

There's a little bit of difference between a '68 and a '78 Camaro to say the least.

I say maybe ditch it if it was a plain jane. but its Z28 even if you never restore it. it will be worth more in a few years.
