Mustang gets walked by VR6 and Viper. VR6 sticks it to the Viper.

I'm not left speechless... Anything can be fast with enough money, remember that. That car does not impress me. I bet you that Viper was stock too. And on the other hand, the VW is modded. Let's say that VW owner spent $10,000(I'm not saying that he did, but let's just say) in mods, Now take $10,000 and mod a Viper... The VW wouldn't stand a chance. You know why? There is no replacement for displacement. No matter how you look at it, the car with more displacement will come out on top.
Stop comparing stock cars to modded ones. That is stupid as ****.
Take a Civic and put $10,000 in mods in it, and race a Mustang GT. Who would win? The Civic of course, because the Mustang is stock, but spend the same amount on that Mustang and the Mustang would win.
I'm tired of explaining this **** to people that just don't get it.

The way I look at it between the VW and the Viper is not as a displacement issue, but a bang for your buck issue. If you take a mid-$20,000 car and add $10,000 in mods to it, and go out and beat up on $50-60,000 cars, you just saved yourself $20-30,000. So in that case, there is a replacement for displacement, and it results in more money in your pocket.

Calm down, Beavis.

Then stop, drop, and...
Then just let it go. No need in getting your panties in a bunch.
Anybody who takes a Sport Compact with a 4banger or a V6 and makes it fast gets props from me, whether they spend $204,762,065,205,265 in modifications or not.

yeah you gotta take into consideration the price of the car to begin with. 50 grand for a viper or around half of that for the VW? add however much you want in mods and its still no where near the price of a viper. more bang for you buck with the VW....not a matter of how much money in mods...but rather a matter of how much money overall

Normally I leave things like this alone, but................. Lets just say for the sake of saying it that the owner of the Jetta DID put $10K in mods into his 2.8L 4 door sleeper and the Cobra/Viper were all stock.
I took the trouble to look up some "educational material" for you SO, next time you talk about spending extra money on a car, you also take a look at the Base Value, which is something that you decided to omit!!
Here it is. Just put in 10K for lower than average milage to be more than fair.

Looks like the Mustang and the "Modded VR6 come out to be about the same price, but the Viper is about 30K more.
In closing, try and be a little more educated before you rant.... it makes you a lot less open to criticism, but either way the VW smoked the higher displacement cars for the same or less $$$.
As for me not "getting it". 8 years in auto racing from NASCAR to IMSA (road racing) gives me a pretty good background on these things.

well said. we all know that a V10 stock puts out more HP than a stock SR20DET, but then after modding that SR20DET gives that V10 a run. that's my kind of "replacement", and i'll take that anyday for a daily driver.
