View Full Version : Thinking of trading in the xB for an 07 Rabbit

I'm getting tired of my xB. I've come to terms that the teeny bopper/JDM style, cheap Toyota wannabe is just not for me. I loved my box, I guess I just wasn't IN love with it hahaha. Since I can't/don't want to afford the insurance on a GTI, I think I'm going to trade the box in on the next best thing, the new Rabbit. My wife is in love with the car and I am in love with the GTI so this should make us both happy. We're going to take a test drive this evening to see if it's really what we want. It's going to be automatic because I want her to drive more when we go on trips. So far the aftermarket sucks from what I've seen but I think it'll be a fun little car.

about time you got rid of that thing, lol. but yea the rabbits are pretty cool, by why not get an older GTi? my cousin has a '03 GTi, that thing is sweet. he's done quite a bit to it and it's pretty fast. he also has a older jetta (he's a VW junkie). but good luck with the new car hunting. I'm in the same boat (as far as looking for a new car) I'm looking at the Titan. test drove a couple yesterday, just trying to find one i can afford that i'll be happy with

hahaha thanks.
Wife don't want to drive stick or else I would highly consider the older GTI. I really don't want a fast car that has an auto transmission...there's just something demasculating about that...it's bad enough that I want to drive a car called the Rabbit...lol

lol i was gonna say you're worried about demasculating yet you're looking at a rabbit, hahaha.

As of right now we're just looking at the v dizzle. We're pretty sure that we want the Rabbit. We still have to test drive it and if we totally hate it or my big ass doesn't fit then we'll definitely consider other options. (I really want something fast but the popo and USAA say otherwise)

looks to small for me.
but then again, my mom has an '01 new bettle and that thing has tons of room in it. but then the wifey has a '99 jetta glx and i get so cramped in that thing i need to see a doctor after each ride.

After more research and checking with USAA, my insurance will only go up $40/6 months if we get an older GTI...I was looking at some 03's today (Insurance is a lot higher for the 04s and 05s for some reason)
I found this one and like everything about it minus being an auto. I would try to get the price down a little even though it's already fairly decent.

not bad, yea it sucks to have an auto especially with the turbo. another thing i don't like is it's black, black is a bitch to keep clean. my colorado is black and it sucks. will never get black again.

why not get a tiptronic then? the wife can use the auto, and you can get your rocks off shifting. its definately not the same as driving stick, but its the closest thing to stick without actually being a stick-shift. plus if your wife tries out the tiptronic part and likes it, then you can teach her to drive stick and your next car can be exactly what you want.

That's what I've heard but it just looks so good when it is clean. I love black cars.

It actually has the tiptronic trans so that's why I'm not too concerned. The worse thing is that she knows how to drive stick. She learned to drive with a freakin stick...she just "hates doing it because it's too much to think about and she doesn't feel like she has control of the car" so I told her if she really feels that way it's just better for everybody that she drives an automatic lol

this is true..... but you have to clean more often, because dirt is a lot more noticeable on black then most other colors. but that's just my .02.

The box got backed into on Friday. I'm tired of this sh!tty luck I keep having with this thing...as soon as I get it out of the body shop, it's getting a big fat FOR SALE sign.

I'm going to try and test drive that this weekend. It's a good deal and looks to be in awesome shape in the pics. I haven't driven an automatic yet, all that I have driven so far were manual so I want to see what I think of the auto because I want my wife to be able to drive it.
I might try to trade the box in if they won't screw me too bad. Although I don't even care at this point, there's been nothing but bad out of this car...it's effing cursed.

pay off your credit cards and take advantage of store financing everywhere. pay all your credit cards off the month after and you'll build it up waaay fast. credit companies like to see paid off balances, but its never a bad idea to keep using your credit cards because they like to see a healthy credit history as well. just dont pay any bills or balances late, black marks do more to your credit then you think, and they stick around forevvvver
and unless the dealership is offering like 3.9% or 0% financing specials, don't bother, they make more off financing than the actual car it seems like. ive got a high 700 credit score and they tried telling me i was only approved for 13.9%, get real, i went thru my insurance co. and got it at 4.x%
check with your insurance to see if they offer financing, i was surprised to find out when i had usaa that they had there own financing and they gave me a great rate. i later joined navy federal and they wouldve gotten me a loan at an even better rate
shop around and give the dealership as little of your money as possible
