There are V6 Camaros that only come with 155hp, that was an SS I believe, with around 300 horsepower. The R32 Skyline comes with 280 horsepower stock. Both of these cars seem to have been modified, at least judging by the sound of the Camaro, and the Front mount intercooler on the Skyline. Either way, the outcome isn't surprising to me, the Skyline is a beast among Imports, but it's very comparable to American V8s, that was a rather fair race, and stock for stock, should have ended the same.

My friend has a '96 Camaro with a V6 and it's 200hp. SS's have 320hp... I'm talking about the newer bodystyles though.

There are several advantages to having a supercharger or turbo chager. Not to state the obvious, but weight is one. Take that Skyline and Camaro out for a real race (one with turns) and the outcome would be a lot different. But after saying that............. THAT CAMARO ROCKED!! I agree with Brian, neither are stock. So the race is between apples and oranges, it depends on who did what to get their car that fast.

Why is that? You actually think a turbo or s/c is the replacement for displacement?? Then tell me, if you think that, then what if you put a turbo or s/c on a v8 what are you going to do then to make up for that?

In other words, there is NO replacement for displacement

before this gets under your skin, let me put it this way.

i don't care really to own a huge V8 to get power, i'll take a small turbo, S/C engine over a huge heavy V8 most any day. don't get me wrong though. i love V8's, but don't want one. so what does this come down too? it's what i want, so if it's "my replacement" then it's perfectly fine for me. you get me?





on topic, after i watched the vid, DAMN! that camaro was flying. i want to say it looked like the skyline wasn't really trying, but i know i'm wrong. skyline is still sexier IMO.

i can agree with that, real 1/4 mile who's got the strongest car racing, yeah, V8's rule.

Oh yeah, what about F1 and Indy car. ALL TURBO. Cept for the fake Indy car (IRL).... Are we forgetting about the days when the american muscle car was a V6 Turbocharged buick and the fastest thing around a roadcourse was a 4cyl Pony car with an outdated Porsche turbo? Still, I say we are talking apples and oranges.

doesn't matter how much you compare, "they" always want to get into how NA big blocks are the best. i'll take a small turbo 4 banger anyday!
