nah you WILL forget to turn the amp off that way, its only natural to be forgetful when your in a rush.. what you do, tap into the ignition wire running into the back of the headunit.. or figure out which fuse is the one for the radio and run a wire from there to the back, that way only when your radio is on, will your amp be on

Heres what you do: BUY A RADIO WITH A REMOTE TURN-ON!
Or if the radio has a power antenna wire, just use that

tap into the ignition wire on the headunit. switches aren't a good idea b/c you'll forget about them.

Usually a blue wire will be on he back of th CD player.....thats a antenna wire..just tap into that. The wire might even say remote or antenna on it.

im pretty sure you can run a lead from the 12v on the amp to the remote. I think scott told me something like that before when i was hooking an amp up in my room.

YEs i can vouch for forgettting abotu the switch. The way mine is set up is that i ahve a wire running from the power on the amp into the remote. Its to weasy to forget..
Id do like phigity and other said tap into the ignition its the best way. Then you can also put a switch on that so you dont have to listen to the bass all the time.

The power antenna wire usually goes off when you put a cd in. That means youre not gonna have a system when you want to play a cd. Tap into the ignition and put a switch on the remote wire, that way you can choose when you want to listen to yout system, and you wont forget to turn it off.

How about doing it the right way. Since relays are current devices you can hook the coils into the power wire of the radio and when the radio is turned on current flows throught the coil thereby activating the contacts. If the contacts are wired to a 12V source on one side (the same power wire) and the remote-on wire on the other the amp will only come on when the radio is on.

And let's hope Scott doesn't read this thread....he would bust a blood vessel if he knew we were ghettoing systems together like that!
