that **** pisses me off...hes asking for help and all yall can do is just be stunned that he said FI carb...so what, give him ideas....if he was anyone else yall would bend over backwards to help him out
justin....take it out, put a new 4.3 vortech in. or a 3.8 v6, the 99 camaro we got has it in there and its good on gas and has decent power to it...if you need more, grab 305 or 350...will be more in gas, but more power for you...and you know if you need help, im sure crigger will give you a hand swapping it all out

i highly doubt its the vortec since i dont believe that came out til 95 or 96. now if you are saying its vortec because thats what the headers say then its two different things. theres a vortec engine manufacturer, and then theres the vortec Engine which is CPI. most likely you have the TBI. thats what mine is. ill take a look at it on thurs...im still trying to get better by then

dose is right its most likely a TBI motor which arn't the most desireable
but if ur looking for more a$$ out of it try some simple tried and true methods such a freeier flowing exhaust and intake of some sort maybe maybe some underdrive pulleys or something ... also u might want to do a tune up like plugs wires and all filters like fuel air pcv egr and all that jazz, some of those parts could be all gunked up and not allowing your stock motor to perform to their full potential

ive got the K&N breather, with catback exhaust and the e-fan with upgraded wires and sparking stuff, and its freed up a couple horses. enough that its better throttle response it seems. but other than that, the best thing to do is maybe swap out, which if you do that, you might as well go small block

IMO, the only way to get some decent speed out of the 4.3s is a super charger. they cost a little bit, but its the best HP for the price i think.

Whoa chill out man no reason to get your panties in a bunch. The TBI motors arent the most disirable things in the world but you can still make decent power out of them. If you dont wanna spend an arm and a leg try some simple bolt ons like an E fan, maybe an intake and exhaust and im sure there are some other goodies out there for those motors. Is your truck an auto or a manual? Also its got the factory 8.5 rear end right?

its not a vortec though. vortech is the company...vortec is the engine everyone thinks they like

no mine has been through all kinds of **** and its pushin more than the normal amount of horses done we had that thing checked out when my dad had it.. it is a vortec and i was simply making comment about the FI carb aight i didnt mean that literaly aight.. damn

i kinda doubt its pushing more than the normal amount. the stock intakes starve a ton of horses along with the fan, those two things will free it up incredibly. but it did look right clean inside there...if anything, i would say its still less than factory new horsepower...either way, its gonna take some work to get anything reasonable out of it

if you've got a 4.3L you shouldn't have any huge problems with power. When you get a 4 banger, that's when you can complain.
But seriously do a tune up and cleaning before anything else, it's cheap and can provide a few horses back that have been stolen over the years.
