I want to put this COMP SVR Deep Cycle battery i have laying around, in my trunk to run my new system. Can I just throw it in the trunk and let it roll, or do I have to hook it up the the other battery or alt somehow. Also, was just wondering how you can get 17v ran to an amp rather than 12v.

wouldnt the battery eventually drain itself out of power without hooking it up to the alternator? i mean it has no way of recharging itself. i'm no expert or anything, just guessing.

yea ur right it will eventually die and crap out without it being recharged as far as a second battry in your car i think you need a electronic a/b switch which can be had at most boast stores for like $40 and that allow you to switch the current from the altenator to charge both batterys or you could take the time to wire the batterys in parallel with some stereo wire and i think you would get the same effect
as far as running 17 volts to your amp i had no idea how to do that

probly going to need a 200 amp solenoid unless its the same battery as under the hood then you may be able to wire it in series.
for 17 volts you would need some 18 volt batteries and only charge them up to 17 volts. You would have to charge them with a battery charger unless you want to get a voltage regulator and alternator capable of recharging 18 volt batteries.
