1. Theres a red light constantly blinking sometimes on the little receiver box for my door poppers, is that normal? I have looked at it before and it wasn't blinking, but every now and then when i happen to look at it, it is.

2. I just put my amp and sub back in and my components are making a loud pop when i turn on the headunit and i can hear the noises that the headunit is making inside. Is it possible that there's anything besides a bad ground or rcas causing this noise? my rcas are run down the passenger side w/ the remote wire, power is run downt he driver's side, and its grounded to the thing that used to hold the jack in place (there's a slim chance that it could be the ground im thinkin, but it was grounded there before and i didn't have any noise. idk whats up with it though

i might be goin  with the blinking light but my system is kinda pissin me off

For # 1 I would think that if it is a very intermitent light that it's just a power light saying hey i'm here and have power and work, if you stare at it for a minute it probably will flash like every 10-20 seconds or something like that.

#2 I would say that you have a power wire to close to the audio wires that run to your amp. you have to have the audio wires sheilded or very far from any power sources. I'm not that good with car audio wiring but that's what it sounds like to me.

I make great sub boxes when I actually have time to do something.

i had the same problem in my truck Jason. i'm not sure what i did to fix it, but i didnt change anything but the ground, i moved it and made sure all the paint was off before i mounted it, and it stopped popping. I know you thought of that, and everyone else says that, but its probably what's makin the noise.

good luck!

also, just to be safe, double check your power wire and make sure it isnt near anything, my bags wouldnt work one day and i found that the power wire for my switches and compressors shimmied its way next to the headers. just a thought.

Ok here's an update (not quite fixed yet haha) I checked all my conections and pushed the rcas down all the way on the amp cus i was in a hurry the first time and missed that :twak: ...checked it and still had popping... re-did my ground connection and the popping stopped (Dan gets 10 points for that idea :clap2: ), but then i was getting some engine noise coming out of the sub so i re-did the connection on my battery and I still have the noise. I have the power wire ran through my grill to get to the driver side, then it crosses some random wires that goes to who knows where right before it goes through the firewall and it meets my door popper wires there which run to under my seat, and i think that either those or the ones before the firewall are causing the noise? but I'm not too sure. If thats the case is there some kind of shield or something that i could put on the power wire so that the others will stop interfering? It can't be ran down my passenger side cus thats where my rcas are ran, am i screwed here or what?

throw some electric tape on it where it runs over the wires if you think that is the problem... it couldnt hurt.

Engine noise is generally a ground issue as well. My dad's truck had some, changed his ground and it stopped. An old Monte Carlo i had come in with engine noise, it ended up being his old crappy spark plug wires that was interfearing (seeing as they were like 15 yrs old)

Alright well I got it all wrapped with electric tape and then put the loom back over it and still got the noise <- was a total pain in the ass seein how its like 10 degrees outside and I could only stand to be out there for 10 minute intervals haha. but anyways, tomorow I'm just gonna find a new spot to ground it and see what happens, i talked to the guys at the audio shop today and they said the same thing ->sounds bad ground. Thanks for all the help.

 No More Noise!! I tried evvvvvery possible thing to fix it today that i could and finnaly decided that it had to be something major like the alternator. Well my dad comes outside, I show him whats going on and he says, "I bet its your battery" and I'm thinking no way, so I take my batter out and swap it with the one in our Tahoe which is not running right now...I fire up the truck and hit the power button on my head unit and whadaya know, no noise whatsoever. So i guess my battery just had enough and decided to crap out on me idk. Props to my old school pops on this one haha. Thanks for all of the help though guys.
