I was talking with the guy that detailed my truck yesterday and he said that armoral is bad for your vehicle.

he said that I should find a vinyl conditioner and not use armoral due to the fact that it has a large content of alcohol and is waterdown as well. plus with it's greasy left overs it collects dust much faster, as well as reflects light much more thus giving a glare off the dash.

He didn't recommend any brands but I was hoping you all would know what brand or products would be better to use. I know on the label for most armoral products i've looked at alcohol is among the first few listed items that are in it.

What do you all use on your interior dashes and vinyl areas?

this is not a "maintenance or repair."

I just use a water bottle, and wipe it down real good. if its really dirty, I mix a little soap in the water bottle.

I've heard of something called 303 protectant?? or something like that. supposedly works very well, but again I've never tried it before.

this is not a "maintenance or repair." i figured it would fall under maintaining the interior of your vehicle against cracking dashes and such.

i figured it would fall under maintaining the interior of your vehicle against cracking dashes and such.well, this is the INTERIOR section of the forum. it is where it belongs.

think of this when posting: if the question your asking deals with your seats, dash, etc. that will go in the interior. if your alternator dies, your starter goes bad. that goes in maintenance and repairs.

Black Magic also makes a good one but yeah Armor All=extremely bad the alcohol actualy dries the vinyl out worse and leads to cracking earlier...look for products that actually place another coat of vinyl particles (like Black Magic and I think Meguair's makes one also)...they last longer and will not dry out the vinyl

from what i have been told. soap and water is one of the better things to use on your dash. especially if you plan on painting, fiberglassing, or covering it with a fabric of some sort. i dont like armoral on the dash because it will leave the survace very difficult for glue and paint to bond to. usually i just clean my windows anf then flip the rag over to the clean side and wipe down all my dash.

yeah i never even noticed that it had alcohol in it till the guy said something. If I would have known that I would have changed products a long time ago. alcohol is a key additive to anything that you want to dry out, hell acne cremes mainly. it dries the pimples out.

so yeah i'll check out the black magic stuff tomorrow. as well some of these other things that you all are sugesting. guess i'll spend some time reading lables at autozone or something.

i dont know what the name of the 3M stuff is, but im sure the local parts stores carry it.. if not check out your local auto paint supply shop.. the allways have a ton of armorall and usually some local knock off brands that work just as well. as far as the achohol.. i allways use straight rubbing alchohol to clean any vinyl or plastic parts just before painting or gluing fabric down.. yes itll dry them a bit but if it's getting covererd, a once over with alchy will never hurt anything .. and it's the best at removing all the greases or waxes (such as armorall) before you put whatever you're putting on.. an overall excellent prep cleaner..
