Anyone know the values for the capacitors I need to buy to make bass blockers? I am looking for like a 120 Mhz HPF for my front speakers. I dont remember this stuff, its been so long since I have messed with audio.

Thanks

edit: circuit city has them for 10 bucks a pair crossovers (http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-11701&qp=0089531050817&oid=50612&m=0) ... are those what you're looking for?

No no no no. I am not looking to buy bass blockers from a store, I am looking for the capacitor values for them ie. Micro Farads and Voltage. Bass blockers are just capacitors which are like $.12 each and circuit city sells them for $10 a pair

full range audio signal is basicly 20hz-20khz. bass blockers filter out the lower frequencies like 120hz and below. you put them inline on the postive side going to a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 door speaker. this keeps those lower frequencies out to protect it from blowing. even though they might advertise that that have a range of say, 45hz-25khz, it's still not a good idea to send those lower freqs. to them at higher volumes. it starts with distortion, but can blow it pretty fast also if left at higher SPL for too long.

bass blockers are filters. they filter out low frequencies. :slap:

what you said is just fine. Just make sure it blocks anything below aboutu 120-160hz. Even 100hz would work if thats all you can get.
