Okay. I have a neon as you all know, and among other things (like trying to figure out how to make an ATX faster) I'm trying to get a good system.
This is what I'm supposed to have, what I actually have, and what I WANT....
2 tweeters in dash (Not there, car didn't come with them)
1 speaker in each door (right side busted, left side sounds like azz)
2 stock rear deck 6x9's (?) (also sounds like azz at times)
1 box with 2 Sony Xplod 1100w 10's (awesome)
1 box also includes 2 small air holes (plugged w/ shop rags) 2 small speakers and 2 tweeters......All blown because of a 1000w Xplod amp mounted to the back of rear 60/40 flip down seat (nice)
1 EQ (not installed)
Oh yeah, and you can see the wires....
and the box has some neon lights around the subs (kinda cool) but they're blue, and I want red to match the pinstripes on my car.
And I wanna stay Xplod, even though I have an old school pioneer head unit (pimp)

Problem is I don't know all that much about the deeper aspects of car audio, so this is where you guys come in? What would sound good, what would you all recommend, what the hell should I do about mono 2 and 3 way speakers? HELP!!!

Thanks. ;)

throw all that out, buy phoenix gold amps, alpine subs, boston acoustic components and a badass headunit(any pioneer high end would suffice, or ANY alpine)... but thats just my suggestion, it gets into personal preference at this point

you have the right ideas in mind but it really sounds like you need to start all over with new equipment. just tear all that stuff out and start over with new stuff and sell off the old stuff to whomever yuo can.

When it comes to audio its worth it to pay extra and buy a decent brand or brands. Xplod stuff might match your car but Sony IMO isnt that great of a product. How much are you willing to spend? This might help everyone with making suggestions.

I dis agree with the sony comment. I have owned several sony products and it took 8 years before my old home sound system started to have issues. I also have a new sony home surrond system that I have had for a couple years, best quality system i have heard for home theatre.

The xplode stuff imo is pretty good quality people just need to learn to put the right amount of power to it instead of overloading the stuff. most companies under-rate there products and therefore you can run more to them. I have noticed sony gives true numbers therefore people want to max them out and that is why the xplode series from sony has been getting a bad rap.

well heres my take on it... your door and deck speakers: anything that retailes for about 60-70 bucks and higher is better than what you have. I have Infinity Components (170.00)... If you buy high end speakers they will all come with crossovers, no matter if its a 2 or 3 way speaker, so you have less chance of blowing them. And more money does make a differance in speakers... you can tell the differance between 60 dollar speakers and 80 dollar speakers, me and adam were looking for speakers for his escort and i could tell just by listening to them in the store.

Amp:
you need at least 6 channels for your speakers and subs, so a 4 channel then a mono sub amp or another 2 channel or something. I'm only running door speakers and 2 subs so i have a Kicker 800.4 pushing those. I think a good 4 channel is "around" 100x4 RMS.

i think thats it, if i'm sounding dumb someone let me know.

i agree on the price issue, a few extra dollars will sound much better and have the potential to last much longer

No offense but, me personally I equate sony xplode with high school. meaning that high school kids usually have a smaller budget so xplode is perfect for them. its not expensive, and it does the job. whereas when you have a larger budget (ie. better paying job), you can get the higher quality stuff. if I were you I would just hold out untill you can afford the better stuff, you wont regret it and it will be worth it in the long run. just my two pennies.

well i put a stereo in a friends car, and all they wanted was something better than the stock radio, it was an xplod deck and xplod door and deck speakers, with 2 MTX tens and an MA audio amp. Sounds good for what they wanted.

So i'm saying depending on the application, Xplod can be a good choice. Not the best choice, but a good one

without reading what anybody said, sony xplode is garbage. I've said it 100x and i'll say it again. I actually bought a sony xplode sub a few months ago. Except instead of using it i hooked it up to a wall outlet and watched it blow after like half a second. Give us a budget and we'll help you choose better stuff.
