I'm almost finished with my box!!! YEA!!!

I just put a bid on a "legacy" 3 Farad cap. I will need something in my truck to help my amps out a bit. I had this system in my Honda but I was running a couple extra batteries (about 2200 CCA's and about 340 minutes of runtime :D) that kinda acted like a capacitor. I don't have the space in the truck now for the batteries. SO I figured I'd get this capacitor and (soon) get a high output alternator.

So, my questions are: Is Legacy just a rebadged product of a decent company, a decent company, or just plain cheap? Also, is that going to be enough to help buffer the system from dimming headlights and the like?

hey, question. when i hooked up my 4 channel amp to my rears, every time you would hit the gas, it would skeel and if you turned the volume all the way off it would pop in the speakers..... does that mean that i have a bad ground connection... or that there is something gone haywire if the amp?....and, how can i make it go away...!!!???

You most likely have a bad ground connection. Best place to ground an amp in the back is at one of the seat belt bolts. Remove the bolt and scrape away all the paint underneath it. Then get yourself a big ring terminal and make sure you put the ground connection under the bolt and not on top of it or any washers.

hey i had the same problem with mine.. i think it was because the wires where to thin but that may of been my problem... i would have to turn the bridge off for it to stop thumping...

i thought legacy has fairly decent audio items. i think its a decent company

legacy + boss + pyle = JUNK JUNK JUNK... oh yeah did i mention that its JUNK? Those companys and products like them are probley the worst on the market... we laugh at people when they bring that crap into my shop to get installed... don't waste your money on that crap... save your money a little bit longer and buy quality stuff... people don't seam to realize in car audio if you buy cheap stuff it usually is CHEAP.

Yeah most of those are pretty junky.... some of their stuff i could see using just to get by until you can afford something decent, but a capacitor i dont know if i would trust very long. as for the other question, bad ground can cause the problem, the other thing that could cause it is commonly referred to as "altenator whine"...this is caused usually by the power wire and rca's being too close, or improperly shielded/insulated. as long as the rca's are heavily shielded you wont see much of a problem no matter how you run it. if you are using less thick rca's(usually cheaper and not much different in sound quality) the power wire may pick up vibrations under the hood and travel through the power wire, to the rca's and come out in your speakers with the high pitched whine that increases as you accelerate. best way around that problem is run them on opposite sides of the car/truck, better rca's, or ground loop isolators can work sometimes depending on how bad it is...sorry for the novel, just thought id throw in my $.02

When it comes to car audio its always better to just spend the extra cash and get something worth having in your car. You get what you pay for when it comes to those eBay brands, very little quality, lots of chrome and flashing ****, and a total waste of cash.
