I was reading up about a new camshaft that said "valve train upgrades suggested" well the cam gears the pulleys the flywheel and clutch have all been taken care of but they're not really "valve train" I hadn't seen that on any other camsafts that i looked at, this one in particular added a big boost to my vtec, does anyone have any suggestions or input on problems i might have if I replace the camshaft before I go into some serious internal work?

valve train stuff like valve springs and valves is what they are probably talking about. i've been inside a nissan sr20de engine doing a cam swap, but couldn't tell much about hondas. i do know this, which is pretty basic across all engines big and small. go to aggressive on the cam, you need to upgrade springs, valves etc. etc. my suggestion, call thier tech support and get more info on what and why. or if your a memeber of a honda board, post this same question.

Hey! Welcome to VACustoms!

About your car. I assume it's a b16 style engine and that it's not a DOHC VTEC. When they sa upgrade the valve train I think they are talking rocker arms and some valve/valve seat work. But for your car you can't just slap a cam in the engine and expect it make great power without a significant loss of drivability. Your engine is a "system" and if your imbalance the system bad things will happen (usually a loss of drivability.) You need to investigate any upgrades and find out what they do to the "system." A lot of places will sell you stuff for your car and say they make great horsepower, but they are usually talking about race cars that are not driven on a dialy basis. Go check out the Hondata site and some of the better honda aftermarket providers. You'll see that it's not just poping a cam in!

yup, I've got the skunk2 valves, exhaust and intake, the skunk2 springs and retainers but they still haven't been put in, I'm going to do it all when I eventually get a camshaft. As for the rocker arms... I have no idea where to come about getting new ones or replacements.. i was hoping they came with the shaft =/ Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll let you know how it goes!

yeah, suspension is what i did first so it can handle a few turns here and there =) now i just gotta put at least some kind of push behind it haha. I'm hoping to do the pulleys and clutch this weekend, I haven't got the cam gear yet but that will hopefully be in a few weeks, whenever i get that i'm going to crack open the block and go to town =)
