I need a little help, I have a 2002 full size Montero Limited, and I installed a remote starter in it. I can't figure out how to disable the stock ignition kill set up. The truck will only start if the key is in the ignition, the key dose not have to be in the ON postion or any thing, it just needs to be at least 1/2" stuck in the ignition. The lock seems to have a coil wire wraped around it the can determine whether the key is in the ingnition or not. I tried everything, but I can't seam to disable it. I know their has got to be a simple fix, one of you everyday installers knows what I'm talking about and how to fix it. Thanks

Does the key have one of the computer chip things in it? I dont know alot about these things, but thats what I would guess.

Thats what I figure.... I wish it was cheap **** like the GM way with a resistor in the key....... GM sucks.... a two year old could steal a chevy, but when you think about it GM owners have the best theft protection..... who would want to steel it.......... Hey Adam Help me out I know you know someone with the answer to this......

The person to ask would be Scott (Urban Noise on AIM). And I don't understand what you mean by Chevy owners having great theft deterrent, you shouldn't even have to worry about leaving the keys in the ignition and the windows down on a Montero. Unless you are worried about a Soccer Mom mistaking it for hers. :D

well i am about to do my remote starter myself so maybe i can answer your question in a few days but for now go to www.SoundDomain.com and go to the security section and ask there. IamMurph will answer ANY questions you have about alarms. He's been installing them for years.
