well i bought another truck, 99 silverado with the 4.8 slightly modified, so far it has an airraid intake, GMS mass air meter, JBA headers, a dyno max exhuast, A rebuilt tranny with a shiftkit and different torque converter, and gears. i dont know if it has a chip in it or not, does any one know wherer the chip would be if it had one its not on the PCM and i didn't see a place for a chip on the PCM? i wanna get this thing to a track to see how it runs with some traction.

It should be on the computer if it has one.... But being a chevy it may have just been retuned using a power programmer or something.

Most gm cars and trucks now have to be reflashed or reprogrammed instead of the normal jet chip or something ... i think they are trying to stop you you from messing with it but fock em who cares

well i couldn't find any chips or any thing but i made it to the track tonight, and my best ET was a 16.51. not too bad for a big truck with an automatic, and it was my first time at a track.

Not bad at all! The <=95 trucks have OBD1 computers and get a physical chip and the 96 and up get a power programmer. my Roommates 91 with headers, magnaflow exhaust, no air filter, and a airaid TB spacer ran a 17 flat. He didn't have his chip in though. I'm sure that'd take a 1/10th or so.

I have a chip in my truck and it is just hard wired in my wiring harness under the dash. If you want more details email me at lownloud_chevy@yahoo.com
