It's getting on my LAST nerve!
I fix something.. and something else goes wrong! But I guess thats a typical car thing... REALLY glad I work at a shop and have open garage after work..all the tools and 2 lifts I need :)

Well when I first got the car I noticed it was burning oil..so I got one hell of a tune up done along with a comression test.. test comes back great.. no issues what so ever..

Well I thought all was good.. 2 months ago I put some synthetic oil in my car... yea the other day i'm sitting at BK getting lunch for everyone and the damn oil light comes on.. I get pissed and pull it into the bay when I get back.. NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK.. omg I was PISSED.
So after work we look at it.. run some engine oil cleaner through her and then I WAS about to put synthetic back in her but we look over her and see she has a valve cover gasket leak.. well DAMNIT.. but still NOT enough to make that much dissapear.. So we are HOPING the cleaner will help out.. maybe I had buildup that was forcing the oil out through the rings.. hell I don't know.. So I put regular Havoline 10w30 in her.. Then I get the LOVLEY job of replacing her valve cover gasket.. which isn't that hard but... well here is a pic of my engine bay..

Gatta take off the damn throttle body and a nice arrangment of other misc hoses and crap :(

Yea and thats not the ONLY thing.. clutch is slipping like a little **** dude in a wet *****.. So I have to get a new clutch VERY soon... Yea.. another nice install to do.. might as well get the flywheel refaced while i'm at it.. POOP!! Donno how I'm going to do this though.. I asked if I could come in an hour early and take out the flywheel and drop it off at the shop.. then get it after work and put it all back together.. but the boss is an ass and wont give me an answer :( But :giggles: I can't wait to get my clutch :)

Just had to ***** for a bit :)

i'v heard that the first time you use synthic oil that it will show leaks that regular oil doesn't.

Depends on the age of the car..how many miles ect.

What happens is crap builds up around the seals and stuff.. The synthetic oil is made of elements which will clear all the buildup by breaking it down.. Doing this will clear the buildup which was also helping the seals hold up.. As seals get old the break down..thats commen sence though...

If you start a new car off with synthetic your fine.. But older cars like mine... I'll end up finding new leaks untill I replace all the seals :) ha..

Valve cover gasket was a ***** to do... but anything else that leaks shouldn't be too bad.. I put normal Havoline 10w30 in her.. she's almost due for another oil change so i'll go back to synthetic.. I'm sure soon i'll have to replace the oil pan gasket but that wont be hard at all.

I started using that high milage valvaline in our Toyota and it started leaking. I don't know for sure where the leak is but once I clean it up a little better I should be able to find it.

I dont see how its good in any way? Unless you don't want to do normal maintnance... Ending result of buildup isn't pretty
