Hey guys, the other day I turned my car on and my system wasn't working. Nothing is bumping and my cap slowy declined from 5V to 0V. The cap is on and reading 0V, my inline fuse isn't blown, the fuses on my Amp aren't blown either. I can't see the lights on the AM because it is covered up so I can't see if it is on or not. Is there anything else I can check before I tear the trunk apart to check wires and such? Thanks.

do you have a meter? Turn it on and check the voltage everywhere, at the amp, at the cap, at the battery. Every single point you can check the voltage that way you can tell where the problem is. I dont know much about your system but you said it slowly declined from 5v to 0v? Maybe you could bypass the cap and see if that works. Try swapping out your amp for a friends or something, that way you can tell if the amp is ok. Try all that and then get back to us. If you dont have a meter maybe drive to a circuit city or best buy or another audio shop and pursuade one of those guys to help you out. I know at my circuit city we help people troubleshoot all the time no charge.

check your wiring with a meter volt

first check the ground, if it isn't grounded properly it can cause a shut off or road noise. if it isn't that, check the rca cables on the amp and the head unit.also check your remote wire. if it isn't any of those you might have just straight burnt the amp up. how many watts you runnin and what are you pushin with it?

If you are getting no sound and your cap went down to 0 volts, I doubt this is a ground issue. If it was done right, the cap and the amp should have seperate grounds (so both grounds would have to be bad in this case) I would think it is a loose connection at the battery or the fuse under the hood brew out.

Yeah man it may be the remote wire...Does your remote wire commin from the raido have a fuse in it if so you may wanna check that. Try connecting the remote wire from the amp to the RED Power wire in the raido and it thats not it then you amp may be blown to sh!t.. sorry

It was just the inline fuse under the hood. I looked at it and it didn't look blown so
I just skipped over it. I check with a volt meter tho and that was it. I just replaced it and I am good to go now. Thanks guys.

i work at a stereo shop and we see the fuse under someone's hood go bad atleast once a day .....those round fuses heat up and the solder joints inside loose contact and make it look like the fuse is fine but it is really blown.... i think they are called AGU fuses... to prevent this from happening again u can step up to the waffer fuses call ANL fuses...but they are a little bit more expensive but I havent seen one yet go bad from over heating under the hood... or you could just go with a circuit breaker.
