anyone got experience with 4.10's. i got em thinking they would give me more pick up, but only bring down my top end a little. it seems now that all my power is from 0-40, after that i got nothin. i have a 2001 s10 4.3l. any feedback would be appreciated. thanks

ive got 4.11s in my 66 f-100 with a 351/c6.
cant keep the tires from spinning. but thats what gears like that do...make you quick off the line. you cant tell any difference from a stop?

That pig should rip the tires off the rims from a standing start. Changing the gear ratio to a closer ratio gives you more low end grunt while robbing the top end. Why did you put something in your truck not knowing what the result would be? Not bustin on ya...just wanted to know what you were thinking.
4.10's should help you out when racing from light to light.....if you can overcome wheelspin!

what did you have in there before? I got the 3.42's and they seem to be great for all around speed. pretty good off the line(even tho peeling seems imposibble to avoid, lol) and its good on the top end all the way to 97 lol.

I think 3.73:1 is probably as agressive as you might want to get when running youur standard street "performance" tires. If you were to run DODs or Slicks 4.10:1 may be able to hook up..... But.....it's a pick-up and it suffers from the lack of the weight in the back.

I wouldn't suggest putting 4.10 gears in unless you are planning to take the the drag stip every weekend. Your top end is probably murdered.

Yeah, i definitely should have done some research before i got them, but i was told quicker off the line with marginal loss in top end. oh well. I am for sure quicker off the line, and with an upgraded limited slip i have less wheel spin, but my top end is killed. I had the 3.42s in before. it was murder getting them installed, so i wouldnt recommend it.
thanks guys

Yea 3.73s would be ideal, youre just gonna trash tires and kill your top end with 4.10s

stock gears depend on what option you had.. mine originally came with an open 3.08.. not too long ago, i installed an Eaton Posi with 3.73s.. if you have the automatic, i wouldnt recommend the 3.73s. From all my research, if found that the power difference between a 3.42, and a 3.73 really isnt noticable, until you hit top your top speed... mines programmed to 120.

really, well damn. i am debating whether or not i want to put stock back in cause the 4.10 arent helping me any. i was thinknig about getting 3.73, but not anymore, thanks.

i have 4.10 in my blazer. with a 3 speed it tachs up pretty high too. for that spinning off the line need some drag radials. nitto's are what i'm using. they work great.

i would go with the 4.10s i think u might be dissipointed with the 3.73s. i have 4.11s in my toyota p.u. and my 88 turbo coupe has 4.10s. and i do alot of highway driving.but man its your decision.

MMMMMMMM...........4.10's......those would be much nicer on the track with my slicks over the 3.92's that my truck came with.

I've got a torsen and a set of 3.73's to toss in the truck. It's got 3.42's on an open diff. Since I've already got the diff and gears, do you think it's worth the change???
