Obviously im not gunan do this for ahwhile... but im worndering what every thinks about this hood on the 300zx.
I yihnk it looks Ok, but it looks a little to high, im tihnkin a regular carbonfiber hood would look better. WHat do you all think?

Yea if anything a CF hood painted to match my paint.
This is the front end im going todo, Its not a body kit, Its the J-Spec front end off of a '99 fairlady Z and in the senond pic i was thingin about those louvers. BUt im still thinkin moreso abotu leaveing it a "clean modified but stock looking" theme

or you could just keep it stock outside and make it faster or make sure the tranny works

Its an N/A Its not gunan get to much faster haha. As far as the tranny im tihnkin they took out the heat sheilds and internal shift boots because the whole center console gets hot . so even tually whne i have time im gunna check that out make sure everythings ok and add some heat sheild under there. Meanwhile getting the trans fluid changed to a full synthetic liek redline or sometihng i don tknwo yet.

The invader hood looks like a$$. I would stick with the stock one unless you plan on painting the carbon fiber hood to match.

I guess I'm going against the grain on this one. If that first hood is what I'm thinking of, and it is a reverse, functional, cowl-type hood, and not just a strange bulge in the center, the I say go for it.
On a side note, you mention that if you got a CF hood, you'd paint it to match the car? Also, you said that it's an Automatic, it won't go any faster. You really confused me with these two lines, and maybe I'm the only one who caught it, or doesn't understand what you mean. First off, I feel the main reason people get CF hoods is because CF looks damn sweet, face it, it's mostly a cosmetic modification, so why paint over it. Now, if you want to get a CF hood because of it's weight savings over a stock hood, why not just get a fiberglass hood and paint it, and save yourself some money, the fiberglass hood is going to be just as light as a CF hood, especially since most CF hoods are actually just fiberglass with a single layer of CF on the top for cosmetic style. And lastly, the weight savings aren't necessary if you aren't planning on making the car faster, which, just because it's an automatic doesn't mean it can't be a 1000hp beast.

He didnt say it was an automatic his said it was N/A (naturally aspirated). I honestly dont see the point in buying a carbon fiber hood for anything other than weight reduction but like Brian said just get fiberglass and save your money if thats what your goin for. If its just for looks id paint any hood you get to match your car. Im probably alone on this but i think a carbon fiber hood looks horrible on anything but a black car.

dude that Invader hood is Fugly...go with a nice fiberglass hood if u plan on painting it to match. CF shouldnt be painted...it's a waste of time and money

Carbon Fiber is a waste of money any way you look at it. It doesnt save anymore weight than fiberglass and it doesnt look that great.

Its a five speed like dustin said, i dint knwo they made fiberglass hoods. i thought they only made carbon fiber and the regular metal ones. Ill look into those. As far as gettin a diffrent material hood, i belive its all for looks that little weight savings isnt needed until you get into the big leagues of racing.
I with whoever said carbon fiber looks good with onyl dark colord cars how ever, i was just looking at that car as far as the look of it. i tihnk black hood on a white car stands out way to much.
As far as gettin another truck, i thought i told everyone im gunna be buyin some sorta truck like a first gen blazer as a daily drivbeer after i pay this car off.
Roy, i tohught the POP chargers was sometihng you used on turboe'd cars*edit* ok i just saw what thye were, it is a filter charger only not a rip off version*. I guess i dont knwo to much about this car yet ill have to look into it. Ive never seen those kinda of gains with those mods before. The usuall stage upgrades i saw were foirst was a filtercharger and all that. Im gunna look into that company as well. Pretty soon here im gunna start doin small things but the majority of money will go to paying the thing off. White tweed anyone? Acutually does anyone knwo if they make white tweed???

they make it, but good luck doing it yourself, white tweed blows, the glue bleeds through really easy and makes the tweed have the faded spotted look

to be honest, i dont think id buy a 300ZX. i work at a nissan dealership and we DRED getting these cars in the shop. EVERY single 300ZX that we see has MASSIVE oil leaks, so bad that even the most dishonest and most willing to rip off, mechanics wont try to sell anything. IMO, these cars suck. but thats why i wouldnt buy one, but props to you for buying one, i hope you have good luck with this one.

Yea white tweed is a *****. If you apply just a little to much glue it bleeds like Nick said and its so damn noticable. Not to mention good luck keeping it clean, i have a hell of a time with my white painted peices i cant even imagine white fabric.

The stock hood is lighter than any hood posted. There's no need for a carbon fibre one unless you like the look. I would definatley do some kinda venting though ( in the hood) cuz our engine bays see some pretty high heat. Oh and since it a na....BUY MINE

just go with a CF hood but keep it waxed and cleaned up otherwise it will fade. and if you put wheels on the car anytime soon give me a holler and I will buy the stockers from you for the right price. :)
