I was hoping that maybe some of the gang here could give me some ideas or help. Let me start with the ride I have and working on. I have a 1991 Chevy standard cab S10 2wd Tahoe. I had purchased a new JVC am/fm/cd to replace the stock am/fm/cass., and I have also have a set of new Sony Xplod 3way 6 x 9's to replace the stock 4 x 10's in the rear of the cab. I know I will have to fabricate a spacer plate for the rear to be able to put the 6 x 9's in. I plan to replace the stock in dash 4 x 6's in the dash with a set of 2way Infinity 4 x 6's. I'm looking for ideas on placing a set of 10's and a amp in the rear of the cab. I was wondering if any one has done this to their truck. I was thinking about a set of Bazooka 10 inch tubes with the amp placed on the rear wall of the cab or build a custom box to hold a set of Sony Xpold 10's and the amp. Any ideas or help would be great. Many thank to you all.

Ahhh man stay away from best buy and circuit city. Bazooka and xplod both SUCK. Give us a budget and we'll choose the best products for you. Let us know how much your willing to spend on the subs and on the amp. A custom box is good, bass tubes are BAD. Bazooka and xplod are like a sin in the car audio world. They sell them at BB and CC because they look cool to the little 15 year olds that run in there while mommy is shopping. They are some of the worst products i've ever heard/seen. (Yes i have owned some xplods and i've heard the bazooka bass tube)
Also you might want to ditch the 6x9's in the back all together and put some nice 6 1/2's in the doors if you can. Try to stay away from rear speakers for the most part and dash speakers as well. Look for qlogic kickpanels they will help your soundstage immensely. If you can, mount some 6 1/2 component speakers in the doors. This may require a little cutting but it will provide the best sound if done right.

Thanks Oapy123 for replying back. See I has a problem with cash flow. I live on a limited income thanks to social security, because I am on disability. I would love to get some of the items you said, but I can only do so much. I can maybe come up with like two hundred a month to do something with. Sorry if I wasted you time dude. but I do thank you for the help and your time to answer this message.

yea i understand completely your predicament. I'm broke as hell too lol. One thing is for sure, your money will go much further by purchasing online than it will at circuit city and best buy. I know in one instance a head unit i was looking at costs $279 at best buy and online i found it for $215. If you buy from the right websites you can get a warranty to go with the product so you dont have to worry about anything going wrong. So let us know the maximum amount you would like to spend on the entire system. Also are you looking to get real loud or just sound real good? I will find you some choices that will allow you to get the most for whatever amount of money you are willing to throw down.

Just to give you some ideas, this is the box that is behind my bucket seats in my standard cab S-10, it's housing 2 JL 8s. The Pioneer amp is no longer there as I did not need it, and the box has since been tweeded. The box was built for proper air space for the 8s, sealed, and sound deadened inside and behind the subs. Personally, I think it hits pretty hard for a pair of 8s. Up front I'm running a set of 6 1/2s in the doors and a set of 4" components in the dash.

if you need better tunes then stock and dont want to do the competion thing then i dont see a damn thing wrong with circuit city or best buy
try to catch some sales at crutchfield
i do agree with ditching the 6x9's in favor of 6.5's
i got my pioneer deck from wal-mart and havent had any problems yet. just try to stay away from the off brand stuff. The brand name stuff has came down alot on prices

Yep, it's amazing the difference a speaker change will make. The JLs vibrate my back more being between the seats then the Wal-Marts did being right behind my back.

crutchfield is good and all, but they charge out the *******. You can get **** so much cheaper, i've spent about the last 3 years of my life browsing car audio forums and looking through products and finding the cheapest prices and all that. Dont go to CC or BB, they charge too much for poopy equipment. You can get the same products online for much cheaper! but, if you wanna waste your money go ahead, i'm just tryin to help.

Rework your door panels and put some nice mid ranges in the lower doors. Or build some custom kick panels for a plate system. There are tons of ideas that are floating around out there and people have already worked the "warts" out them. If you need help on door panels or custom speaker pods for the doors go over to s10forum.com and do a search for my user name and "door panel" and "Speaker pod", you'll find some how-to's. There are a ton of guys on here that can helpl if you have any specific problems..
