im trying to get an enclosure made, but i dont know where to look to get them made. im not sure if i want it glassed or just using MDF & carpet. i can show pictures of the space that i want filled, and i will get dimensions. but pretty much what i want is just 2 small subs, like 8s or 10s, it the rear of the trunk, closest to the back of the car. you know those little corners in front of the wheel well.i just want to fill those holes with some subs. nothing great or extremely powerful or anything, just something to add a little bump, and mostly for show purposes. if anybody knows where i can get this done, or can do this themselves, send me a pm, or email me at DOCIMPALA@yahoo.com.

your box on your site looked pretty cool, but i kindof wanna do something glassed, but maybe a box something like yours would be pretty good. if we can find some carpet to match the carpet in my trunk. the thing with boxes like that is that the edges are too straight, i kindof want it to flow kindof, with the curves of the trunk. we can see if we can make it work. anybody else think they can help out? or know of anybody good with 'glass in the nova area?

yeah, i could do a good box myself, but i want it to look nice. i want to get it done with fiberglass, and paint it to match the car (of coarse). the color is called Indy Red. Its as red as red can be! lol! i dont want anything huge, i just want to put something small like an 8 or a 10 in each of the corners, closest to the back of the trunk. im not going for competition sound, just decent sound, and great show! :)

i've decided, i want to throw these in the box if it gets made. i want to continue to INFINITY sound, since it came from the factory with infinity speakers. what do you guys think of these?

They are decent subs, great for what you want. They wont be too loud and will sound excellent if put in the right size enclosure.

yea, this is more for show than anything else. so i guess i have to incorporate the box size specs in with the design of the enclosure. this is where it gets tricky.

exactly, but dont get lazy with it, make sure you really do try to get the most accurate box size you can. If your fiberglass box has wierd shapes, fill it with water, playsand, packing peanuts and then dump those into a measureable container to figure out the volume. Do it right and it'll pay off in both sound and looks.

M.A.S. does "ok" work from what i've seen. Go to New Sound Car Audio in Manassas. That place is the real deal. If you dont like them, try Safe and Sound in Manassas, they do some crazy stuff too. Also Underground Audio in Springfield is one of the best shops in VA.

There are plenty of places in Northern VA that can due custom enclosures. The places I have dealt with in the past are Sound Solutions in Chantilly, New Sound in Manassas, Myer Emco in Fairfax and Kar Tunes in Sterling. The installer at the Myer Emco has been doing installs for a very long time and is highly recommended. His name is Chris, can't remember his last name. Hit them up.

never bought any audio from them, just an air horn. I know the assistant manager pretty well. They do awesome work thats for sure, just dont know about the pricing. Any shop you go to is goin to charge pretty high because they gotta make a profit for all that work you know what i'm sayin, you gotta pay to play, unless you got the crucial hook up or can do it yourself.

what size wood and what kind of wood should i use to build the frame. i was thinking about just using 2"x2" pieces of wood, and 3/4" MDF.

definitly 3/4" mdf
StratusFear
06-02-2004, 08:28 AM
yeah, i figured that. i was either going to use 3/4" or maybe even 1", but im wondering if 2"x2" boards for the framing would be good?

u mean a "2 by 2" board? I'd go with something more just in case u make any mistakes or need extra
heres a list from s10forum.com for building an enclosure
"Here's your shopping list for your local Home Depot:
4x8 sheet of 3/4" MDF $20
1 tube of Liquid Nails Heavy Duty for Construction and Remodeling Adhesive $2
Quality Caulk Gun $4
1-5/8" coarse-threaded drywall screws $2.50
#6 Countersink $5
Corner Clamp $10
Latex gloves $1
When shopping for Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), you want to look for a non-grained brown board with 5 neon green stripes on each end. These stripes may or may not be there, depending on the area which you live in."
heres the complete tutorial (not sure if u gotta be a member to view or not)
